family could soon be out of prison. a california parole board has approved a request from bruce davis. he's serving a life sentence for the 1969 murders of music teacher gary hindman and stuntman shorty shay. >> the parole board says it has 120 days to review this recommendation and then it's up to the california governor, jerry brown, to decide if it stands. davis was granted parole in 2010 but that decision was overturned by then governor arnold schwarzenegger. if he goes free, davis would be the second convicted manson family killer to be freed on parole. steve grogan who was also convicted in the murder of the stuntman shorty shay, was released on parole in the mid-1980s. the prosecutor who sent the manson family to prison says davis should stay behind bars. manson himself was denied parole for the 12th time. he will not be eligible for parole for 15 years. by then, he will be 92 years old. arnold schwarzenegger said it was because of the heinous crimes. this was something that gripped the country and still is a part of kind of our psyche today. the parole board, though, saying he has

. an exclusive cbs 5 surveyusa poll of adults in california shows that 48% believe romney won compared with 34% for president obama. 18% felt there was no clear winner. last night's forum in colorado focused mainly on the economy and other domestic issues. that debate took place at the university of denver, colorado being a big swing state in this election, as well. the focus of the debate was the economy. but big bird somehow got into the dialogue there. and, of course, as we mentioned, there were some polls that showed that romney came out ahead of the president on that first debate. bigad shaban joins us live from denver with some highlights from last night. . major cities, refinery problems we have, california, chicago, indiana, you name it mainly because these refineries have to make these incredibly difficult blends of gasoline every summer and we create government mandated shortage driving up the cost of gasoline in the major cities and the rest of the country suffering as well. neil: so what is going on leaving aside the environmental restrictions and limitations on just drilling, where does this go? >> right now gasoline prices probably will start coming down because we will start burning the wintertime blend of gasoline, the price of oil is lower so that will make a difference, but we have to look at the big picture. why do we go through this year after year after year? when we keep on electing politicians who are anti-drilling and we know what the problem is, we know the strict regulations, the different cities burning a different type of blind, we havd to come up with a nationalized blend or original blend to take advantage of shortages when we have refinery issues upon refineries. we can hold the entire city of los angeles hos

workers at retail stores in southern california launched a one-day strike to protest retaliation against employees who have taken a stand over working conditions. on thursday, hundreds of workers and their supporters rallied in front of a southern california retail store. the strike follows walkouts at warehouses in california and the new head of the world bank has signaled he is planning to unveil major reforms next week during meetings in tokyo. on thursday, jim yong kim said he will push for the world bank to be able to move more quickly and be held accountable for on the ground results. he helped found partners in health with dr. paul farmer and is a former president of dartmouth college. a video of a wisconsin news anchor taking a stand against a viewer who insulted her weight has gone viral. wkbt-tv anchor jennifer livingston received an e-mail from a viewer who took issue with what he termed her physical condition saying -- she used the insult to make a statement against bullying. >> the truth is, i am overweight. you couldn't call me fat, yes, even obese on a doctor's charge. but

this stretch of the route from los angeles international airport to the california science center. now, what we can show you is, okay, we have the wing that's really close to that tree. if we look over on the other side of the street, you can now see the platform starting to move. but you can see it's almost out of room on the other side of the street. so it's a very, very delicate maneuver. this platform that it's on, each of the wheels can move individually. it can go side to side and backwards and forwards so they're trying to reposition it right now to get around that tree and try to save it. we have asked a couple of the workers here who are managing this whole process whether they're going to cut the tree down or not. they say they don't know. they have tried throughout the process to save as many trees as possible. 400 have been cut down along the route. they'll be replaced 2 for 1, but some of the residents of the communities have been upset because they don't want to lose any trees. we're still watching the process and we're going to see whether it gets by the tree. you can watch as th
